Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan and Confucius Institute of Kabul University Jointly hold the Photo Exhibition on China-Afghanistan Friendly Relationship

On June 30th, 2015, Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan and Confucius Institute of Kabul University jointly held a photo exhibition on China-Afghanistan friendly relationship. Over 80 guests from China and Afghanistan were at present, including H.E. Mr. Deng Xijun, Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr. Zhao Zhiyong, Military Attache of Chinese Embassy, other diplomats from Chinese Embassy and H.E. Mr. Zardash Shams, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture of Afghanistan, H.E. Dr. Habibullah Habib, Chancellor of Kabul University, H.E. Dr. Sayed Makhdum Raheen, Chairman of Afghanistan-China Friendship Association and students and faculty from Confucius Institute. The event was covered by Kabul Times, Radio and Television of Afghanistan, Negaah TV Network, Kabul News TV, Shamshad TV and other Afghan major media, and Xinhua News Agency, CCTV correspondents in Afghanistan.

Ambassador Deng said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations as well as the Year of Friendship and Cooperation between China and Afghanistan. Attributed to political mutual trust, mutually beneficial cooperation and deeply rooted public support, the relationship between China and Afghanistan has developed continuously. This photo exhibition reviews different periods in the history since China and Afghanistan established diplomatic relations 60 years ago and vividly portrays historical moments of mutual beneficial cooperation. Ambassador Deng hoped the guests could better understand the history of China-Afghanistan friendly relationship through this exhibition and contribute to consolidating and developing the friendship between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Shams said that both Afghanistan and China have long history of civilization. Afghanistan and China are facing favorable opportunities for cultural exchanges. Ministry of Information and Culture of Afghanistan would spare no efforts together with China to further promote cultural exchanges and develop Afghanistan-China friendship.

Dr. Raheen said that the exhibition would help exploit potentials of cooperation between the two sides and inject new energy for Afghanistan-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He hoped the two sides could take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and join hands to push bilateral relations to a new level.

Dr. Habibullah said that this photo exhibition of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Afghanistan-China diplomatic relations provides a good way to further enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. Support from Chinese Government and the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan is indispensable for the development of Confucius Institute of Kabul University. He hopes the Confucius Institute, as an important platform for cultural exchanges between the two sides, could play a greater role in promoting the friendship between Afghanistan and China from generation to generation.

At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Deng along with other guests cut the ribbon and viewed the photo exhibition. All guests congratulated for the success of this exhibition. At last, Ambassador Deng was interviewed by Afghanistan media.
