On April 15th, 2013, H.E. Madam Tan Yuxiu, wife of H.E. Mr. Xu Feihong, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Afghanistan, visited H.E Madam Zeenat Karzai, wife of H.E. Mr. Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan.

Madam Zeenat Karzai warmly welcomed Madam Tan Yuxiu, spoke highly of China’s great achievements in economy, technology, education and public health since China's reform and opening-up, and said that the Afghan side could learn well from China’s valuable experience. Madam Zeenat Karzai noted that, thanks to the strong support from the international community including China, Afghanistan had made substantial progress in education and health for women and children over the last few years. The reconstruction of Afghanistan was loads of work. Therefore, the Afghan side hoped that China continue to support Afghanistan in various areas, and further strengthen friendly exchanges among women of the two countries.

Madam Tan said that the relationship between China and Afghan had a long history and the peoples of the two countries were friendly to each other while pursuing happy life and social progress. Madam Tan would like to work closely with Madam Zeenat Karzai to jointly strengthen bilateral cooperation for women and children of the two countries, and to contribute to the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

They also exchanged views on the exchanges of health sector between the two countries.
