On January 20th, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan and Afghan Interim Government jointly hosted a celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Afghanistan in Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Chinese Ambassador Zhao Xing, Deputy Foreign Minister Stanekzai of Afghanistan, representatives from various Afghan government ministries, business sectors, and educational institutions, alongside members of Chinese enterprises and Chinese community in Afghanistan, totaling approximately 150 people, attended the event.

Ambassador Zhao Xing emphasized that China has always followed its policy towards Afghanistan, based on the principles of "three respects" and "three never." He highlighted that over the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results, and the friendship between their peoples has deepened. China is committed to working closely with Afghanistan to jointly chart a course toward development and prosperity, enhance regional peace and security, and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
"I hope the friendship between China and Afghanistan will remain as stable as the deep color of lapis lazuli," he said. "I hope the people of the two countries remain united like pomegranate seeds. I hope the future of our countries will be as colorful as the saffron blossoms."
Deputy Foreign Minister Stanikzai highly commended the historic friendship and fruitful cooperation between Afghanistan and China. He expressed gratitude to China for supporting Afghanistan’s national independence, aiding its development, improving the livelihoods of its people, and standing up for Afghanistan in multilateral forums such as the United Nations over the years. Afghanistan firmly supports the one-China principle and is eager to use the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to further enrich the strategic connotations of bilateral relations, expand all-round cooperation, and achieve mutual development and prosperity.

Guests present widely praised the enduring friendship between China and Afghanistan and looked forward to a bright future for the relationship between the two countries.
