On September 2, Charge d'Affaires Bao Xuhui met with Muhammad Alam Alamyar, General-Director of Administration of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, and handed over earthquake relief donations from the Embassy, Chinese institutions, and the Overseas Chinese Association.

Bao Xuhui stated that the recent strong earthquake that struck Kunar and other provinces has caused significant casualties and property damages which has deeply touched the hearts of the Chinese people. While presiding over the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed condolences to the victims and extended sympathy to the families of the deceased and the injured, wishing the people in the disaster-stricken areas a speedy recovery and rebuilding. The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that China will do what it can to provide help in light of Afghanistan’s needs. This fully demonstrates the deep friendship of the Chinese government and people towards the Afghan government and people. The Chinese Embassy, Chinese institutions, and the Overseas Chinese Association in Afghanistan quickly raised approximately 350,000 RMB in donations and relief supplies, hoping to help the people in the affected areas overcome their difficulties.
Muhammad Alam Alamyar thanked China for the kind gesture and briefed Afghanistan`s earthquake disaster and relief efforts and stated that a friend in need is a friend indeed. President Xi Jinping's statement is a tremendous support for Afghanistan. Afghanistan cherishes the friendship of the Chinese people towards the Afghan people and will properly utilize the donations and relief supplies, dedicating them entirely to disaster relief and reconstruction.
Representatives from Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese associations in Afghanistan attended the meeting. A handover ceremony was held after the meeting.
