Charge d'Affaires Bao Xuhui transferred emergency humanitarian cash assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society

On September 5th, Charge d'Affaires Bao Xuhui met with H.E. Sheikh Shahabudin Dilawer, President of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, and transferred an emergency humanitarian cash assistance of US$200,000 provided by the Red Cross Society of China, to support Afghanistan in earthquake relief work.

Bao Xuhui firstly conveyed deep condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake, the bereaved families and the injured from Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Chinese government will provide Afghanistan with 50 million yuan (about 7.04 million U.S. dollars) in emergency humanitarian aid for earthquake relief, the Red Cross Society of China provided the Afghan Red Crescent Society an emergency humanitarian cash assistance of US$200,000, and the Chinese Embassy, Chinese institutions, and the Overseas Chinese Association in Afghanistan quickly donated cash and relief supplies. The above assistance fully reflects the sincere friendship of the Chinese government and people towards the Afghan government and people. Bao believed that under the leadership of the Afghan government, the people in the affected areas will definitely overcome difficulties and rebuild from the disaster as soon as possible .

Dilawer briefed the earthquake disaster and the emergency relief work carried out by the Afghan Red Crescent Society, and stated that a friend in need is a friend indeed. China's condolences and assistance were of great support for Afghan people in the affected areas and reflected China's good will and friendship, which Afghanistan appreciated a lot. The Red Crescent Society will properly utilize this donation and dedicate them entirely to disaster relief and reconstruction.

A cash assistance handover ceremony was held after the meeting.
