Charge d'Affaires Bao Xuhui attended the Handover Ceremony of China’s First Batch of Earthquake Relief Assistance to Afghanistan

On September 7th, the first batch of emergency earthquake relief assistance provided by the Chinese government to Afghanistan arrived in Kabul. The event was attended by Bao Xuhui, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of China in Afghanistan, Sharafuddin Muslim, Deputy Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, as well as representatives from the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority and Red Crescent Society.

Bao Xuhui stated that the strong earthquake that struck Kunar and other provinces had caused significant casualties and property damages. In order to help people in the affected areas tide over the difficulties, the Chinese government decided to immediately provide Afghanistan with 50 million yuan in emergency humanitarian aid, which fully demonstrated the Chinese government and people's friendship towards the Afghan government and people. The first batch of emergency earthquake relief assistance included tents and blankets, and further batches of assistance would arrive soon. Bao believed that under the leadership of the Afghan government, the people in the affected areas would definitely overcome difficulties and rebuild from the disaster as soon as possible.

Sharafuddin Muslim stated that after the earthquake, Chinese leaders conveyed their condolences to the Afghan side immediately. The first batch of emergency assistance from the Chinese government is of great support to the people in the affected areas. The Supreme Leader appreciated China’s sincere condolences and precious support. The Afghan side will always remember the friendship of the Chinese people towards the Afghan people.

Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group, and about ten local mainstream media outlets reported on the scene. The relief assistance was carried by two Y-20 air crafts of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force.
