Standing Together for Peace — The Documentary Series Blue Helmets, No Borders
2026-07-30 18:46

Between 1990 and 2025, the Chinese military deployed over 50,000 peacekeepers in more than 20 countries and regions to fulfill 25 UN missions, building a lasting legacy of peace and protecting countless lives. This documentary series offers an immersive look at China’s Blue Helmets as they brave grave dangers to defend global stability. It provides a comprehensive perspective on the role of the Chinese military as a force for peace, actively implementing the Global Security Initiative and helping build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Episode 1: "The Blue Line of Life and Death"

The 120-kilometer "Blue Line" in southern Lebanon marks the Israeli withdrawal border established by the UN Security Council. This landscape is defined by stories of deep perseverance and heavy sacrifice, where the fallen are still remembered and honored today. Operating on this perilous terrain, the 23rd Chinese Peacekeeping Multi-Role Engineer Company clears landmines and unexploded explosive devices. Known as "dancers on the knife's edge," these soldiers honor the legacy of those before them through dangerous and vital work.

Episode 2: "A Long-Distance Promise"

Africa remains one of the UN's most dangerous peacekeeping environments, as well as the region with the largest deployment of Chinese personnel. In 2016, Chinese peacekeeper Shen Liangliang was martyred during a terrorist attack in Mali. Shortly after, Yang Shupeng and Li Lei sacrificed their lives while protecting civilians in South Sudan. They gave their lives to keep a promise of peace. Today, the Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion continues to patrol and escort convoys here, bringing security and hope to the region.

Episode 3: "Bringing Hope to Light"

This episode follows Chinese peacekeepers as they delivered clean water to the impoverished village of Najidun, visited over 100 children at the Attek Orphanage, and checked on patients in Ebel Saki village—a community supported by the Chinese Medical Detachment. From rebuilding South Sudan's fragile main supply routes to providing daily necessities, these peacekeepers are constantly on the move, restoring confidence and lighting the path to peace on this red soil.

Episode 4: "A Shared Journey toward Peace"

This final episode shares the memories of China's first UN military observers and doctors returning from front lines . It also highlights how Chinese peacekeepers currently serving in South Sudan use the universal language of music to spread hope, driven by the belief that peacekeeping knows no borders. From the rapid deployment of the Abyei Quick Reaction Company to standby units providing "eyes in the sky" for mission areas, Chinese forces continue to evolve, working alongside international partners to safeguard global peace.
